You have 30 days from purchase to return an item for a full refund or exchange (custom orders and final clearance items are excluded). Email info@gkfurs.com with your order number and we'll send a postage-paid return label.
What if my order arrives damaged?
If the outer packaging looks damaged on delivery, note that on the carrier's delivery receipt before signing. Outer damage doesn't always mean the item inside is affected — inspect it once opened, and contact us immediately if the merchandise itself is damaged. We'll arrange a return and won't ship a replacement until the damaged item is received and inspected.
What happens if my item is on backorder?
Items that are not available to ship when an order is placed are on backorder and will ship at a later date. Your card is authorized when you order but only charged when the item ships. We'll give you an estimated ship date at checkout; if that date changes, we'll notify you by email. Stock availability isn't guaranteed, and we'll let you know if an item becomes unavailable.

How do I find my correct size for fur clothing?
Use the sizing chart on each product page — it lists detailed measurements specific to that item. If you're still unsure, contact our customer service team for help.
Can I customize a fur product?
Yes. We offer custom sizing, designs, and colors. You can work directly with our design team by contacting us to discuss your vision, and custom orders typically take up to 30 days to complete. Read our guide to customizing your fur for more on the process.
How should I care for and store my fur?
Store fur in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat, keep it away from moisture, and avoid crushing or creasing it. Have it professionally cleaned and glazed once a year, and use cold fur storage during the off-season. If you don't have a local furrier for storage, GK Furs can help — contact us to discuss storage options. See our full guide: Fur Care During the Off-Season.
Does GK Furs offer a warranty on fur products?
We offer a 30 day return/exchange policy for any reason, excluding custom or final sale items. However if you have an issue with your purchase after 30 days, please contact us directly so we can review your case on an individual basis. We produce your order in our own workshop, and we stand behind every item we ship out the door, so we will be certain to correct any defect or other manufacturing issue you may have with your fur product.
Fur Types & Sourcing
What kinds of fur products does GK Furs sell?
We sell real fur coats, hats, scarves, gloves, home decor, and more, made from mink, fox, lynx, coyote, and other fur types. See Our Fur Types for details on each.
Is the fur at GK Furs real?
Yes — we sell only real fur, leather, and shearling, ethically sourced from Origin Assured farms and suppliers, with full transparency across our supply chain.
Is real fur a sustainable material?
Yes. Fur is a natural and renewable resource that can be sustainably sourced and harvested. Unlike synthetic materials, which are often made from non-renewable resources and can take hundreds of years to biodegrade, fur is biodegradable and can be recycled or repurposed. A properly stored and maintained fur can be worn for decades .For more about our sustainability practices, see our Sustainability in Fur Sourcing page.
Is GK Furs' fur ethically sourced?
Yes. All our fur is Origin Assured, meaning it comes from countries with enforced welfare regulations for fur production. We never source from endangered species and work only with suppliers using humane, sustainable methods. More details: Sustainability in Fur Sourcing & Production.
Does GK Furs sell pre-owned fur?
Yes. Every pre-owned or vintage piece is inspected, reconditioned, and quality-graded before sale. Browse the Pre-Owned Fur collection and learn about how we inspect, grade and prepare all the vintage furs for resale.
Production
Where are GK Furs products made?
All our furs are made in our own workroom just outside New York City, where we design patterns, sew, and store our fur pelts on-site. You can schedule an appointment to tour the workshop.
Who makes GK Furs products?
Our in-house team of designers, pattern makers, fit technicians, and sewers has 20+ years of experience working together in our New York-area workshop. Every piece passes through their hands at each stage — selecting and matching pelts, cutting and constructing the pattern, and hand-sewing the final garment — with quality checked at every step along the way. On request, we'll share progress photos at each production stage, from pelt selection to final hand-sewing, so you can see exactly how your piece is made.
How long does it take to make a fur order?
Since each piece is hand-sewn in our New York workshop, standard orders take 3–14 days. Custom sizing or custom colors can take up to 30 days.
Comparisons
Is real fur warmer than faux fur?
Yes. Real fur has natural insulating properties and airflow that synthetic fibers can't fully replicate, making it warmer and more breathable than faux fur.
Is real fur better than faux fur?
Real fur lasts decades with proper care, is biodegradable, and can be restyled or repaired, while faux fur is cheaper upfront but wears out faster and is petroleum-based, so it doesn't biodegrade. The right choice depends on your budget, values, and how long you want the piece to last. See our Sustainability in Fur Sourcing page for more.
What's the difference between wild fur and farmed fur?
Wild fur is trapped in its natural habitat under regulated wildlife management programs, and tends to have thicker, more varied pelts due to harsher living conditions. Farmed fur is raised on regulated farms with a controlled diet and environment, producing more consistent color, texture, and size. Both are regulated industries, and GK Furs sources both types from Origin Assured, ethically regulated suppliers.
Is wild fur more ethical than farmed fur?
Neither is inherently more ethical — both are regulated industries with welfare standards. Wild fur trapping is typically tied to wildlife population management, while farmed fur follows agricultural welfare regulations. GK Furs only sources fur, wild or farmed, that meets Origin Assured certification standards.
Is wild fur or farmed fur higher quality?
It depends on the fur type and intended use rather than one being universally better. Farmed fur tends to offer more uniform color and texture, which suits tailored garments, while wild fur often has denser, more varied pelts prized for durability and natural texture. See Our Fur Types for guidance on which suits your needs.
What's the difference between fur and shearling?
Fur is the pelt of an animal with the hair left on the outside as the finished surface, like mink or fox. Shearling is sheepskin tanned with the wool still attached, typically worn wool-side in for warmth with the smooth leather side facing out. Both are natural, warm materials, but they come from different animals and are constructed differently. See our full range in Our Fur Types.
What's the difference between fur and leather?
Fur is a pelt with the hair or wool left on, prized for warmth and texture. Leather is tanned animal hide with the hair removed, valued for its smooth, durable surface and used in jackets, bags, and accessories. GK Furs carries both, and they're often combined in the same piece for contrast and structure.
What's the difference between dyed fur and natural fur?
Natural fur keeps the animal's original color and pattern, prized for its authentic, one-of-a-kind look. Dyed fur is treated to achieve a uniform shade or a fashion color not naturally found in that fur type, without affecting its warmth or durability when done properly. Both are equally genuine real fur — dyeing is a finishing process, not a different material.
What's the difference between vintage fur and new fur?
Vintage fur is a previously owned piece, often decades old, that's inspected, cleaned, and reconditioned before resale — offering character, history, and a lower price point. New fur is made from current-season pelts and construction, giving you the latest styling and the longest remaining lifespan. Vintage pieces can also often be restyled or updated to feel modern. Browse our Pre-Owned Fur collection.
Price & Value
How much does a real fur coat cost?
Pricing varies by fur type, size, and craftsmanship — mink and fox pieces are generally more affordable, while lynx and sable are premium. Exact pricing is listed on each product page. We also offer financing and layaway plans to spread out the cost.
Why is real fur so expensive?
Real fur costs more because of the raw material sourcing, the skilled hand-labor required to match, cut, and sew pelts, and the garment's long lifespan compared to synthetic alternatives. A well-cared-for fur coat can last decades, which offsets the higher upfront cost over time.
Does GK Furs offer payment plans?
Yes. We offer financing and layaway options so you can pay for your fur over time. See our Financing & Layaway page for details.
